Lobbying

On November 5th I attended a meeting where the Lobbyist for Weber State spoke. He talked about his job as a whole and how lobbyist is not a bad word. Many people are afraid of Lobbyists as a whole and he taught us that it is not a bad thing, but a good thing that can be helpful to us especially as college students.

Plant a Tree

One Saturday I went to the Ogden City Nature Center to help plant trees. Me and a gorup of other students cleared a very large area of weeds and other things that did not belong. We planted 25 trees that day and made sure that other starting trees had room and help to grow. We raked leaves to make things look better around the area and we tied string to pine cones for children to make bird feeders out of. I spent 8 hours total there that day.

Cat Bash

Cat bash is a fundraiser held by Weber State University. Weber state athletes attended the event to help the bidders buy things on their mobile devices, which is what I helped do for the first two hours. The last two hours the items that bidders had bought were taken out and presented to the highest bidder. Dinner was provided and Weber state athletics were shown on a screen as sponsors watched.

Bring it to the Table

Bring it to the table was a presentation given at Weber state to better educate people on how they hold their political views. A video was shown of the presenter who went around the united states to different conventions. She sat at a table and just listened to what someone had to tell her, she tried not to give her own opinion and listen without disruption. Although she said that their was points to her opposing side that she definitely did not agree with, by just listening to others she was more aware of other views.

Talk of the Town

A meeting was held in Weber State union building called "Talk of the Town". The purpose of this meeting was to discuss voting by mail. Different people stood to talk about and present the pro's and con's of voting by mail. People would be able to vote and send their answers in through the mail, they worried about people wanting to change their vote or how the voting would remain anonymous.
